In short

Who is responsible

Alex Churkin (ChurkinApps), the individual developer of LightSchool. I decide why and how crash reports are processed. Contact: churkinapps@gmail.com.

1. Crash reports, only with your consent

The first time the app starts it asks whether crash reports may be sent: two equal buttons, nothing chosen in advance. You can change the answer at any time in Settings → Crash reports. If you say no or change your mind, the sending stops.

A report holds the error and the state of the app, the device model and maker, the Android and app versions, the system language, the connection type and mobile operator, an installation identifier, the IP address and the country and city worked out from it. It never holds your schedule, notes, homework or names. Location, the advertising identifier, sessions and what you do in the app are not collected: those features are switched off, and the location and advertising-identifier modules are not even in the app.

Reports go to Yandex AppMetrica (Yandex LLC), servers in Russia. The country of the phone is told from the SIM card, the mobile network and the system region: reports are sent only from Russia and Belarus, never from any other country, Ukraine and Kazakhstan included, and the question is not asked there.

The legal basis is your consent.

2. Ads

The app shows full-screen ads from Yandex (Yandex Mobile Ads, Yandex LLC). LightSchool tells the ad service that the user may be a child and that there is no consent to personalisation or to location, so the ads are not personalised and the advertising identifier is not used. To show an ad, the service still needs the IP address, the device model, the system and app versions and what was shown. Yandex processes that under its own policy; I do not receive it. People who bought ad removal see no ads.

3. Google Play

Google Play itself checks the ad-removal purchase and shows the offers to update and to rate the app; nothing from that reaches me. The RuStore version has no purchase check and no Google Play updates.

4. Online homework (optional)

If you enter the address of a homework server (or scan its QR code), the app talks to that server. I do not run it and do not see its data. The camera is used only to read the QR code; no pictures are kept or sent.

Permissions

Internet and network state (ads, crash reports, online homework), camera (QR code), start after a reboot (the widget) and, in the Google Play version, billing (ad removal). The ads SDK adds technical permissions that give no access to your files, contacts or location.

Backups

If backup is on in Android, Android may save the app's data to your Google account; that is done by Android and Google. The online homework server's token is left out of backups.

Children

LightSchool is made for schoolchildren. I do not knowingly collect children's personal data. Crash reports are off by default, and the question about them asks a child to ask a parent or guardian. The ads are not personalised. If you are a parent and think your child's data has reached me, write to me.

How long data is kept

On the phone: until you delete the app or its data. Crash reports: in Yandex AppMetrica, for as long as Yandex's terms set. Everything is sent over encrypted connections (use an https address for online homework).

Your rights

You can withdraw consent to crash reports in Settings, ask what data I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. Reports carry no name, so I can find yours by the approximate time of the crash and the device model. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority of your country: in Russia, Roskomnadzor; in Belarus, the National Centre for Personal Data Protection; in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights; in Kazakhstan, the authorised body at the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry.

Policies of the services

Changes

A new version of this policy is published on this page with a new date. If what leaves the phone changes, the app will ask you again.
